GCUA’s advocacy efforts focus on Government Influence, Public Influence and Regulatory Influence.
The government influence team cultivates relationships with legislators, connects credit unions with them, and provides credit unions with a voice in the legislative process. Credit unions are encouraged and equipped to take part in a variety of grassroots opportunities to maintain and strengthen those relationships at the state and federal level.
GCUA’s public influence team develops relationships with media outlets around the state and beyond, while equipping credit union executives to be valuable spokespersons for the industry. These activities help cast a spotlight on credit unions and ensure credit unions are well and accurately represented in the media.
GCUA takes a proactive role in working with regulators to build a regulatory environment that benefits credit unions and their members. Compliance is a critical issue as credit unions are saddled with an ever-increasing regulatory burden. GCUA keeps credit unions informed of pending and implemented regulations and responds to regulatory agencies with information to help shape upcoming initiatives.
